Wenatchee has gone 9-1 against Eisenhower recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Cadets at 3:00 p.m. Wenatchee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Moses Lake hit Wenatchee with a four-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 9-8. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mavericks 6-1 in the first period.
Sierra Cook was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eisenhower). They put the hurt on Davis with a sharp 29-10 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Cadets in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won eight in a row.
Zabella Hickenbottom was a standout: she fired off three triples, five runs, and seven RBI while going 4-for-5. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nicole Salmanca, who went 5-for-6 with six RBI, three doubles, and two runs.
Eisenhower was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .511. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive matches.
This is the second loss in a row for Wenatchee and nudges their season record down to 7-7. As for Eisenhower, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wenatchee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Eisenhower struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wenatchee skirted past Eisenhower 8-7 when the teams last played on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
