Sage Creek has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sage Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Canyon Crest Academy likes a good challenge.
Sage Creek scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Escondido 101-40 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Sage Creek has managed all season.
Sage Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josh Patten, who scored 24 points. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for Patten. Another player making a difference was Elijah Stephens, who scored 23 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Canyon Crest Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scripps Ranch. While losing is never fun, Canyon Crest Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while Scripps Ranch is ranked 244th).
Sage Creek pushed their record up to 6-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.4 points per game. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Sage Creek came up short against Canyon Crest Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 76-69. Can Sage Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
