This season hasn't been kind to the Wheeler County Bulldogs, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 51-25 walloping at the hands of Dublin on Saturday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wheeler County in their matchups with Dublin: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the defeat, Wheeler County had strong showings from Derrionna Madison, who scored seven points along with three blocks, and Elia Delgado, who scored no points. That's the first time this season that Madison posted two or more blocks.
Nahallie Turnley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dublin, scoring 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenlee Lanier, who scored ten points.
Wheeler County's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.7 points per game. As for Dublin, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeler County and East Laurens will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. East Laurens presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wheeler County in Georgia (East Laurens is ranked 159th, while Wheeler County is ranked 470th). Dublin's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wilkinson County at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th.
