The Oneonta Redskins lost a heartbreaker to the Glencoe Yellowjackets when they met back in January of 2018, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. Oneonta took a 60-46 bruising from the Yellowjackets. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oneonta in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Oneonta saw an underclassman step up: Lexie Jackson scored 21 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Annsley Aguirre, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Oneonta were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glencoe only posted seven assists.
Leading Glencoe to victory were Sarah Ponder and Alli Jo Amos. Ponder scored 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds, while Amos dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Amos has scored all season. Kinlee Montgomery was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Oneonta's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Glencoe, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oneonta will challenge the Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Glencoe, they will head out on the road to take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
