Basketball Recap: Lytle Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Crystal City came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Lytle, but Chase Guevara wouldn't allow it. The Lytle Pirates enjoyed a cozy 77-63 win over the Crystal City Javelinas on Friday thanks in part to Guevara, who dropped a double-double on 38 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Several Javelinas players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Rousseau, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points and three steals. Rousseau is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Rivera, who posted eight points along with nine rebounds and five assists.

Lytle pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Crystal City, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-7.

Lytle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-46 win against Natalia on the 7th. As for Crystal City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-59 victory against Hondo on the 7th.
