The Naugatuck Greyhounds are taking a road trip to square off against the Wolcott Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Naugatuck easily dispatched Crosby on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Greyhounds fell just short of Oxford by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Greyhounds in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost seven in a row.

Carly Luchina was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Myla Derosa was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Wolcott got the win against Ansonia on Wednesday by a conclusive 10-2. Considering the Eagles have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Avery Malenfant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.
On the hitting side, Ava Shea was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in June of 2025. Brayden Keeley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Wolcott pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Naugatuck, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
