The Westfield Shamrocks will head out on the road to challenge the University Trailblazers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. University took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Westfield, who comes in off a win.
Westfield scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 86-37 win over Hamilton Heights. Westfield has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Nic Book continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Charles Farrell, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, University came up short against Bethesda Christian on Friday and fell 62-52. University has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
University's loss came about despite a quality game from Max Mccomb, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Gray, who scored 14 points.
Westfield's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for University, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Westfield and University are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Westfield hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.9 points per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging 59.3 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Westfield came up short against University in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 71-67. Can Westfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
