After each having a week off, the Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes and the DeSoto Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Duncanville took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They blew past Skyline 50-3. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers and Pantherettes in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won nine in a row.
Maximus The Great Denson had an outrageously good game as he threw for 147 yards and three TDs while completing 91.7% of his passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Robert Singleton helped Denson out on the ground, rushing for 81 yards and one score.
Meanwhile, DeSoto faced Waxahachie in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 40-17 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three games by 23 points or more so far this season.
DeSoto's win came from a few key players Duncanville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ethan Feaster, who picked up 118 receiving yards and one TD. His receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 106 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Legend Howell, who threw for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
DeSoto didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Waxahachie to a completion percentage of just 26.7%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Damarion Ross, Ayden Marshall, and Quentin Billings, who each logged one passes deflected. DeSoto wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 57.9%.
DeSoto didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ross and Courtly'On Jackson.
Duncanville now has a winning record of 2-1. As for DeSoto, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Duncanville took their victory against DeSoto in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 42-20 score. In that contest, the Panthers and Pantherettes amassed a halftime lead of 28-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
