Softball Recap: Stony Point Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

While Stony Point put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Vandegrift. The Tigers blew past the Vipers 10-0. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Vandegrift's batters probably weren't too happy with Ria Champaneri, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (she gave up a single walk).

On the hitting side, Stony Point got a massive performance out of Kali Winner, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brianna Moreno, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Stony Point is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Vandegrift, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Stony Point is set to square off against their familiar foe McNeil at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Tigers' favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while the Mavericks have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Vandegrift will challenge rival Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
