Baseball Recap: Benet Academy Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

Benet Academy barely beat Niles Notre Dame the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Redwings never let the Dons get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Saturday. Considering the Redwings have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Benet Academy pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Niles Notre Dame, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Benet Academy will face off against rival Joliet Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Redwings 3.6, the Hilltoppers 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Niles Notre Dame is set to take on their familiar foe Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
