Eastern has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the West Union Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Eastern is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Union in Ohio (Eastern is ranked 290th, while West Union is ranked 811th).
Eastern fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Fairfield last Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Lions 56-50. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eastern in their matchups with Fairfield: they've now lost three in a row.
West Union suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Whiteoak on the road and fell 73-38. West Union was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-20.
Eastern's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4. As for West Union, their loss was their 13th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-12.
Everything came up roses for Eastern against West Union when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 83-35 win. With Eastern ahead 56-17 at the half, the match was all but over already.
