The Carbondale Area Chargers were the 57-48 winner over the Lakeland Chiefs when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. Carbondale Area fell just short of Lakeland by a score of 50-48. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Carbondale Area came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Lakeland is ranked 495th).
Lakeland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Rosenkrans out in front who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Rosenkrans scored 15 or more points. Billy Hazelton was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Carbondale Area's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Lakeland, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carbondale Area will challenge Old Forge at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakeland, they will head out on the road to face off against Holy Cross at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Holy Cross will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
