Liberty Christian Academy will take on Delaware Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither Liberty Christian Academy nor Delaware Christian posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.
Liberty Christian Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Shekinah Christian just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Flames by a score of 2-1.
Mason Kamppi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Liberty Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Dyer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Delaware Christian came up short against Tree of Life Christian on Thursday and fell 6-1. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Caden Beck put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Delaware Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-7 otherwise. Beck was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Delaware Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Liberty Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Liberty Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Delaware Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Liberty Christian Academy couldn't quite get it done against Delaware Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can Liberty Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
