Monarch (Louisville, Colo.) extended its winning streak to eight games with a 21-3 victory over
Standley Lake (Westminster, Colo.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Cole Watson touchdown pass to
Ethan Marks in the first quarter, the Coyotes led 7-3 at the half.
Monarch expanded its lead to 11 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored once in the quarter on a
Logan Soole touchdown run.
The Louisville school's most effective player was Marks. He ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
The Coyotes came into the game allowing 10.1 points per game. The Gators' three points were well below their season average of 27.7 per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, Monarch came away with a 27-0 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Standley Lake, which notched a 49-14 victory over George Washington in its previous outing. The loss snapped Standley Lake's 2-game winning streak.
