The Blessed Trinity Titans lost to the Lassiter Trojans back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. Blessed Trinity escaped with a win against Lassiter by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49. The win was all the more spectacular given Blessed Trinity's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Lassiter is ranked 60th).
Lassiter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Emmanuelli, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Chege, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Blessed Trinity's win bumped their record up to 6-20. As for Lassiter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-8.
Blessed Trinity will take on Sprayberry at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sprayberry knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Blessed Trinity likes a good challenge. Lassiter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
