The Burrell Bucs put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 75-22 victory over St. Joseph. Burrell's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
John Marino and Gabe Maltese certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Marino scored 13 points, while Maltese scored seven points along with five rebounds. Maltese scored a full 31.8% of St. Joseph's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Burrell's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for St. Joseph, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burrell will be home for the holidays to greet Shady Side Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Shady Side Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Burrell is ranked 57th). St. Joseph will be home for the holidays to greet Leechburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Leechburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
