Basketball Recap: Jacklyn Ogle's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Palestine over David Anderson

East Palestine lost against David Anderson back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The East Palestine Bulldogs took a 39-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the David Anderson Blue Devils. The contest was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but the Bulldogs couldn't quite close it out.

East Palestine's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacklyn Ogle, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Ogle a new career-high in steals. Emma Gingher was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven rebounds.

David Anderson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Smyth led the charge by posting 12 points and eight steals. Smyth is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Michaela Farson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

East Palestine dropped their record down to 3-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for David Anderson, they moved to 4-12 with that win, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

East Palestine wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 45-13 loss against Catholic Central on the 18th. As for David Anderson, they are taking a road trip to challenge Columbiana at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
