Olathe has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Grand Valley Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Olathe's game was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past Meeker with points to spare, taking the game 58-42.
Tyra Gray was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Kiandra Liles was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Grand Valley can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. Everything went their way against Gunnison as Grand Valley made off with a 53-30 victory. Grand Valley's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
It was another big night for Jaycee Pittman, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Pittman is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaylae Medina, who scored six points along with eight assists and three steals.
Olathe is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Grand Valley, they pushed their record up to 15-0 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Olathe have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Grand Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Olathe came up short against the Cardinals when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 34-25. Can Olathe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
