Basketball Recap: Esperanza Wins Going Away Against Whittier Christian

Esperanza had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down the Whittier Christian Heralds 70-51. The matchup marked the Aztecs' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Whittier Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Leland Carrido and GW London. Carrido went 7-for-13 on his way to 19 points, while London shot 46% from the field en route to 14 points along with five assists and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Carrido now owns an excellent 45.5% shooting accuracy. Brett Erickson was another key player, putting up six points and nine rebounds.

Esperanza's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Whittier Christian, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

Coming up, Esperanza won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Los Amigos at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Aztecs will need to watch out since the Lobos have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Whittier Christian, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Brea Olinda at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
