The Rampart Rams will face off against the Pueblo West Cyclones at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Rampart is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over Liberty last Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Rams as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Liam Martin and Justus Derickson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Martin struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Derickson tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Martin is becoming a predictor of Rampart's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is undefeated (and 0-8 when he doesn't). At bat, Martin went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles, while Derickson went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Martin a new career-high.

Rampart was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pueblo West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Doherty 12-2 on Thursday. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Cyclones this season.
Jaiven Baca made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Pueblo West let Blake Mares and JoJo Mendoza run wild. Mares got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Mendoza went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Mendoza also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Logan King, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Pueblo West's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rampart, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-8.
