McNair is 2-8 against Stagg since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as McNair comes in on three and Stagg on six.
McNair is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Weston Ranch to the tune of 45-0 last Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.
Jeremiah Williams had another great game (as he tends to do), picking up 39 receiving yards and one TD, while also throwing for 66 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six passes. Another pass catcher making a difference was Taevion Gibson, who picked up 37 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
McNair didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Weston Ranch to a completion percentage of just 13.3%. The team can thank Dallas Long for the heroic effort on defense: he. McNair hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.5 or higher in five consecutive games.
McNair's defense didn't let Christian Widdicombe, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Nate Vega, Randy Turner, and Kurston Wirrick, who each picked up one sack apiece. Vega was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 13 total tackles.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Stagg and Bear Creek had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Delta Kings blew past the Bruins 43-15 last Friday. The result was nothing new for the Delta Kings, who have now won five contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
McNair better focus on containing Darnell Holmes and Alex Hinojosa as the pair were huge in Stagg's win. Holmes gained 195 total yards and three touchdowns, while Hinojosa rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Holmes is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
The victory got McNair back to even at 3-3. As for Stagg, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Everything went McNair's way against Stagg in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as McNair made off with a 42-21 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Delta Kings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
