Basketball Recap: Lowpoint-Washburn Beats Lamoille for Their Third Straight Victory

Lowpoint-Washburn had won two straight games and Brendin Melton did his part to make it three on Friday. The Lowpoint-Washburn Wildcats were the clear victor by a 66-42 margin over the LaMoille Lions thanks in part to Melton, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. He is becoming a predictor of Lowpoint-Washburn's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 5-2 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Jayden Burle was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, LaMoille had strong showings from Brayden Klein, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points, and Jhett Cowser, who posted five points.

Lowpoint-Washburn has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for LaMoille, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Lowpoint-Washburn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-55 loss against Galva on the 28th. As for LaMoille, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-45 defeat against Amboy on the 28th.
