Basketball Recap: Columbia Piles Up the Points Against East Marion

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Columbia). They blew past the East Marion Eagles 79-36 on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Columbia was led to victory by Christian Expose and Avyon Lewis. Expose went 9 of 17 on his way to 25 points and three steals, while Lewis dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Expose is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Foxworth, who posted 11 points.

Columbia was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, East Marion still got an impressive performance from Caden Mingo, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Columbia's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7. As for East Marion, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Columbia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-34 win against Purvis on the 10th. As for East Marion, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-62 victory against Jefferson Davis County on the 10th.
