The New Waverly Bulldogs lost against the Shepherd Pirates back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. New Waverly fell to the Pirates 54-50. New Waverly has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shepherd to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darrian Matthews, who scored 11 points along with six assists. Another player making a difference was Tristen Cullum, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
New Waverly has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season. As for Shepherd, they pushed their record up to 18-13 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
New Waverly will take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shepherd, they will head out on the road to take on the Fighting Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anderson-Shiro has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
