Softball Recap: Six Straight Road Wins for First Colonial

First Colonial came out on top against Cox on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Patriots took their contest against the Falcons 6-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Cori Evans spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucy Domozick, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Maura Haesler was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

First Colonial's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Cox, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.

Looking ahead, First Colonial will welcome Tallwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cox, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-2 defeat against Kempsville on the 7th.
