The Murphy Panthers waltzed into Wednesday's game with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 57-48 victory over UMS-Wright Prep. Given Murphy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while UMS-Wright Prep is ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Murphy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kinley Simmons out in front who scored 10 points along with 3 steals. Bryan Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Murphy's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for UMS-Wright Prep, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Murphy will head out on the road to face off against St. Martin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for UMS-Wright Prep, they will be playing at home against Baker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Baker has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
