It was a good run, but The Monrovia Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 28-21 to Tri-West Hendricks. While losing is never fun, Monrovia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Tri-West Hendricks is ranked 24th).
Despite the loss, Monrovia still got an impressive performance from Brayton Belcher, who rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns. Belcher hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for five straight games.
Malachi Walden was his usual excellent self, rushing for 155 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 103 yards and a touchdown. Walden is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Noah Lien did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Monrovia's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Tri-West Hendricks, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 11-1.
Monrovia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tri-West Hendricks will look to defend their home field on Friday against Gibson Southern at 7:00 p.m. Gibson Southern will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
