Apollo came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 44-14 loss at the hands of the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks.
Despite the loss, Apollo had strong showings from Mila Chieg, who picked up 214 receiving yards and one TD, and Thomas Williams, who threw for 317 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Nash Ott was his usual excellent self, throwing for 339 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 53 yards for Yuma Catholic. Ott is becoming a predictor of the Shamrocks' success: when he posts at least 250 passing yards the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Wesley Porter also helped out with an impressive 98 receiving yards.
Apollo's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Yuma Catholic, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
