The Vista PEAK Prep Bison had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They took down Windsor 65-48. This was payback for Vista PEAK Prep, who suffered a 66-60 loss the last time these two teams met.
Vista PEAK Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyree Polk out in front who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Polk's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Javon Lowman, who scored 17 points.
Despite the defeat, Windsor saw an underclassman step up: Madden Smiley scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Smiley scored a full 45.8% of Windsor's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnathan Reed, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Vista PEAK Prep's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Windsor, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Vista PEAK Prep will play host again and welcome Eagle Ridge Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Eagle Ridge Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Vista PEAK Prep is ranked 37th). Windsor will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cherokee Trail at 2:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
