Lincoln has gone a perfect 3-0 against La Jolla recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 812 yards in their previous games.
Last Saturday, Lincoln strolled past Grant with points to spare, taking the game 40-21. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Pacers are ranked 49th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
A big part of Lincoln's win came down to the chemistry between Kainan Manna and his top target Dareyen Bridges. Manna threw for 214 yards and three TDs on only ten passes while Bridges gained 116 total yards and two touchdowns. Bridges' longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Junior Curtis, who gained 83 total yards and a touchdown.
Lincoln didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Warren Florence and Jaeveyion Allen. Lincoln got some further help from Jaydin Lewis: he picked up two sacks, made five total tackles, and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last game, La Jolla made sure to put some points up on the board against Christian on Friday. The Vikings took down the Patriots 41-24.
La Jolla's win came from a few key players Lincoln will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aiden Farrell, who rushed for 194 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 50 receiving yards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 104.5 rushing yards per game. Carson Diehl was in the mix as well, providing La Jolla with two scores.
La Jolla didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Christian to a completion percentage of just 44%. The Vikings have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.61 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.61 in their last three games.
La Jolla's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points over those games. As for Lincoln, their record now sits at 5-1.
Everything came up roses for Lincoln against La Jolla in their previous meeting back in October of 2021, as the squad secured a 41-6 victory. In that matchup, the Hornets amassed a halftime lead of 27-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
