Basketball Game Preview: Morehead Panthers vs. McMichael Phoenix

Morehead is 10-0 against McMichael since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Morehead Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the McMichael Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. Morehead is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.

Morehead is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing West Stokes: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Morehead's way against West Stokes on Tuesday as Morehead made off with a 56-35 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Ayedon Haygood had a dynamite game for Morehead, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Haygood a new career-high in points. Josiah Thomas was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 15 points and six boards.

Morehead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, McMichael can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 55-42 victory over Magna Vista.

Morehead pushed their record up to 8-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for McMichael, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.

Morehead didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against McMichael when the teams last played on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 52-48 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morehead since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
