After flying high against the Centennial Chargers last Thursday, the Bloomington Purple Raiders came back down to earth. Bloomington suffered a tough 58-34 defeat at the hands of the Senators on Tuesday. Bloomington has struggled against the Senators recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Bloomington had strong showings from Tina Lenard, who scored eight points along with three steals, and Sosi Dadekian, who scored eight points along with two steals. Lenard has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Embry, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Bloomington's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-15. As for Springfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-8 record this season.
Bloomington will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sacred Heart-Griffin is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Springfield, they will square off against the Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rochester will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Senators are ranked 115th).
