IV Section II recap Oct. 9, 2012
Nick Prueher and Daniel Pagan provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Coolidge. The connection was good for 91 yards, the longest such play in IV Section II this season.
Combs's Austin Gauthier rumbled for the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against the Bears last week. Gauthier ran for 224 yards on the play and finished with 126 on the day as his team fell to Coolidge.
Combs' dynamic duo of Prueher and Pagan proved tough for Cayle Ferguson's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Prueher threw for 390 yards and four touchdowns and Pagan had 150 yards receiving. Leroy Valentine helped Combs' passing attack out by catching six balls for 138 yards.
Johnny Renteria was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 165 yards on 37 carries as Globe fell to the Bears. Teammate Aaron Hurley added to the ground attack by rushing for 43 yards.
Nikko Villegas made the biggest impact on defense this week as Seton Catholic defeated Canyon State Academy. The 6-foot-1 junior pulled down two interceptions and grabbed 1.0 sack.
6-foot-2 quarterback Prueher of the Coyotes is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1083. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, Empire's Spencer Woody has rushed for 671 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Matt Haggerty. The Seton Catholic star has 28 catches for 488 yards.
Florence was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to sixth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Gophers defeated Casa Grande 40-36.
