The Gregori Jaguars will venture away from home to face off against the Manteca Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Gregori's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Downey. The victory was nothing new for the Jaguars as they're now sitting on three straight.
Brisa Jaquez made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Angie Hoffman was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Kaliyah Mauia was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Gregori hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least one batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Manteca got the win against Mountain House on Monday by a conclusive 12-4.
The team relied heavily on Na'Ima Calderon, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Bella Cooper, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Gregori's record now sits at 13-11. As for Manteca, their record is now 15-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gregori has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Manteca struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Gregori's way against Manteca in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Gregori made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
