The South Central Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss. They fell to Monroeville 58-52. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Central in their matchups with Monroeville: they've now lost five in a row.
South Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gunner Ray, who scored 19 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Weston June, who scored eight points along with six assists and three steals.
South Central dropped their record down to 2-16 with that loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Monroeville, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Central will take on Mapleton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully South Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday. As for Monroeville, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. Paul at 7:00 p.m.
