Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Coalfield's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Coalfield won against Midway on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets beat the Oneida Indians by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-4. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ashton Chamblee made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Chamblee was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Coalfield let Caroline Foster and Madison Jackson run wild. Foster went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Jackson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Jackson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy McDaniel, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Coalfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.

Coalfield is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 15-2-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Oneida, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Coalfield will square off against King's Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Oneida, they will venture away from home to challenge McCreary Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
