Troup has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on Tyler HEAT at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Troup will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 496th, while Tyler HEAT is ranked 195th).
Last Tuesday, Troup humbled Bishop Gorman with a 46-19 victory.
Troup can attribute much of their success to Bailey Blanton, who scored 20 points along with 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Blanton has scored at least 25% of Troup's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Qhenja Jordan, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tyler HEAT had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They came out on top against West Rusk by a score of 58-49.
Troup has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Tyler HEAT, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Troup and Tyler HEAT were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but Troup came up empty-handed after a 23-22 defeat. Can Troup avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
