Nolan Catholic dropped down to 3-7 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Cedar Hill Longhorns by a score of 5-3. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Longhorns apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.
Leah Granados was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Granados was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Granados wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eva Hons, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
As for Cedar Hill, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since February 27, 2025.
Like Nolan Catholic, Cedar Hill also got a great game from a two-way player: Lily Williams. She pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Williams was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shelbie Willams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jazlene Malone also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Nolan Catholic has already played their next game, a 7-2 loss against Blooming Grove on the 13th. As for Cedar Hill, they will venture away from home to challenge Tyler Legacy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
