The Live Oak Acorns will square off against the Milpitas Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Live Oak sitting on six straight victories and Milpitas on three.
While Live Oak didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Piedmont Hills by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Acorns have won by exactly five runs.
Julianna Altamirano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Olivia Mixco was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Quinn Hulber-Dana, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Live Oak hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while Milpitas put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Wilcox. The Trojans blew past the Chargers 12-0. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.
Marissa Gil was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She also allowed three hits, marking her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Milpitas let Chloe Cabrera and April Price run wild. Cabrera went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Price went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Cabrera also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Jaye Hudson was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
Live Oak pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Milpitas, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Milpitas' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Live Oak has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Milpitas, though, as they've been averaging only 2.1 strikeouts. Will Live Oak keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
