Excelsior Classical Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Hunter Goss and Malachi Thomas. Goss scored six points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Thomas scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season.
Roxboro Community can attribute much of their success to Carver Pleasant, who scored 26 points. That's the first time this season that Pleasant scored 15 or more points. John Little was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Excelsior Classical Academy's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-13. As for Roxboro Community, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excelsior Classical Academy will challenge Oxford Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oxford Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Excelsior Classical Academy in North Carolina (Oxford Prep is ranked 288th, while Excelsior Classical Academy is ranked 685th). As for Roxboro Community, they will head out on the road to take on Henderson Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Henderson Collegiate's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
