Lathrop hasn't had much luck against Colony recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Malemutes will face off against the Knights at 2:00 p.m. Lathrop has given up an average of 14.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lathrop managed to slip by North Pole the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Malemutes came up short against the Patriots on Tuesday, falling 11-2.
Isla Holm made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Colony had already won 19 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it 20 on Saturday. They never let the Wolf Pack get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Knights have won 20 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Emma Minnick made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Malana Bell and Morgan Gallagher did most of the damage at the plate: Bell went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Gallagher went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Gallagher has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Saibree Noll, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.
Colony's record now sits at 30-2. As for Lathrop, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lathrop hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Colony struggles in that department as they've averaged .415. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lathrop might still be hurting after the 25-2 loss they got from Colony when the teams last played on Friday. Can the Malemutes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
