The Poly Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Rancho Verde Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Poly knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Rancho Verde likes a good challenge.
Poly pushed their score all the way to 59 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centennial. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poly in their matchups with Centennial: they've now lost three in a row.
In what's become a running theme this season, Rancho Verde gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. Everything went their way against King as Rancho Verde made off with a 70-44 victory. Given Rancho Verde's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while King is ranked 351st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Poly's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Rancho Verde, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Poly, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-46 loss to Rancho Verde when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Poly avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
