The Higley Knights lost against the Notre Dame Prep Saints back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Higley was outmatched by the Saints on the road and fell 76-38. Higley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-16.
Cadence Murdough and Izzy Krpata certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Murdough scored seven points along with eight rebounds, while Krpata scored nine points along with three steals. Murdough is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Notre Dame Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Pautz led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Pautz hasn't dropped below 20 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Nowak, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Higley's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Notre Dame Prep, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 21-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Higley will take on the Coyotes at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Campo Verde focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Thursday. As for Notre Dame Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Firebirds at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Chaparral will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Saints are ranked 20th).
