The Power Center Academy Knights pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-61 to Ridgeway. While losing is never fun, Power Center Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Roadrunners are ranked 18th).
When it comes to explaining why Power Center Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nazir Allen. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Allen is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cayden Black, who scored 16 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridgeway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emanuel Allen, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. Allen has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last ten times he's played. Marlon Mcshane was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Power Center Academy and nudges their season record down to 13-8. As for Ridgeway, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Power Center Academy will take on the Roadrunners at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ridgeway's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups. As for they, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Melrose at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Melrose focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five last Tuesday.
