If the Whitmire Wolverines were riding high off their 41-12 takedown of the Thornwell Saints last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Whitmire took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calhoun Falls Charter on Tuesday. Whitmire has struggled against Calhoun Falls Charter recently, as their game on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Whitmire lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Raylin Vicars, who scored 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vicars has scored all season. Brooklynn Babb was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Whitmire dropped their record down to 2-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Whitmire will head out on the road to challenge McCormick at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McCormick has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, they will be playing at home against Thornwell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Thornwell comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
