The Del Campo Cougars posted their biggest win since November 22, 2023 on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 69-45 margin over El Camino. Del Campo pushed the score to 57-26 by the end of the third, a deficit El Camino cut but never quite recovered from.
Del Campo was led to victory by Javi Sidhu and Dino Hatzakos. Sidhu dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Hatzakos scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hatzakos has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Niko Wedderburn, who scored 12 points.
El Camino's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Demetrious Perry, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaac Bennett, who scored eight points.
Del Campo's victory bumped their record up to 6-17. As for El Camino, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Del Campo will take on Rio Americano at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Americano has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 505 points over their last eight contests. As for El Camino, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Trinity Christian at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Trinity Christian has six straight wins, El Camino has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
