After flying high against the Carrizozo Grizzlies last Tuesday, the Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers came back down to earth. Mesilla Valley Christian School took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Quemado. Mesilla Valley Christian School was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Quemado apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Mesilla Valley Christian School lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tharp Payton, who scored 12 points. Payton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Daves, who scored ten points.
Mesilla Valley Christian School's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Quemado, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesilla Valley Christian School's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Magdalena at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th. Magdalena has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 586 points over their last nine games. As for Quemado, they will be playing at home against Reserve at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
