Softball Recap: Cedar Has No Trouble Against Dixie

Cedar's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Dixie Flyers 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Reds, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Sadie Parson made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kinzie Hawkins, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kate Lopez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Cedar hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in 15 consecutive contests.

Cedar pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dixie, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Cedar will have a chance to go back-to-back against Dixie: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
