For the first time this season, Mountain House will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Union Lancers at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Mountain House's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while East Union has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
On Friday, everything went Mountain House's way against Heritage as Mountain House made off with an 11-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Isabel Obaob made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Obaob was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Mountain House let MacKenzie Coffman and Surianti Bakri run wild. Coffman got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Bakri scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Bakri has posted since back in April of 2024. Samantha Ruiz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Mountain House was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only posted a batting average of .179.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Union). They blew past Sonora 17-1 on Friday. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Fallon Norman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Caliyah Lopez and Carol Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Lopez scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Johnson went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Lopez also brought in three RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Reyes, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Mountain House's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for East Union, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
