On Saturday, it was a hard-fought match, but Eau Claire had to settle for a 55-52 loss against Charlotte Christian. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Eau Claire came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 177th in South Carolina, while Charlotte Christian is ranked 364th in North Carolina).
Charlotte Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Guandolo led the charge by scoring 20 points along with five assists. The contest was Guandolo's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshall Nicholson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Eau Claire's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Charlotte Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eau Claire will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Dreher at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Hopefully Dreher focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday. As for Charlotte Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Westminster Catawba Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
